Nestan Abdushelishvili's 'Cold Shower' Exhibition at Bukia Vakhania Gallery in Tbilisi

In 2024, the Gallery Bukia Vakhania in Tbilisi opened its doors to 'Cold Shower,' the first solo show by Nestan Abdushelishvili. Born in 1989, she earned her Master’s in Professional Photography in 2017. Her art spans photography, painting, installation, and video, often exploring human relationships and cultural shifts. This exhibition emphasizes the importance of the creative journey rather than just the finished works, shedding light on the often-ignored effort behind them. Abdushelishvili transforms the gallery by incorporating elements from her studio. Her detailed paintings capture the essence of time, with erasure marks being significant. She also uses repurposed materials to tell their stories, and features a series of fire-altered velvet, representing both destruction and memory. Abdushelishvili has shown her art in multiple Tbilisi galleries before.
