Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi Exhibition Paired with New Guinea Artifacts at Galerie Lemaire

Galerie Lemaire in Amsterdam presents the exhibition 'Stories Unfold,' featuring South African painter Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi alongside ethnographic objects from New Guinea. The show runs from December 13, 2025, to January 31, 2026, with an opening reception on December 13. Ngqinambi, born in Cape Town in 1977, is a self-taught artist whose figurative works explore themes of time, transition, and dreamlike states through ambiguous narratives and layered styles. His paintings, such as 'The Watchers' and 'A Film Not Made Yet,' depict figures in cinematic motion. The exhibition juxtaposes his contemporary art with traditional New Guinea statues, masks, and ritual artifacts, creating a dialogue on how images and stories are conveyed across cultures. This presentation highlights the shared potential of both forms to offer perspectives into different worlds and ways of seeing. Organized in collaboration with SBK Amsterdam and Fons Geerlings of Galerie 23, the exhibition is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
