Natural History Museum to Reopen WWII-Closed Gallery with 'Nature and Us'

On 16 September, the Natural History Museum in London will unveil a gallery that has remained closed since 1943. This reopening will last for an initial 18 months and will feature an exhibition called 'Nature and Us', backed by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). The exhibit will delve into the changing dynamics between humans and nature, showcasing 50 extraordinary items. Highlights include a miniature dinosaur model from Crystal Palace, a Victorian monk seal skeleton named Jenny, a Star Wars toy from the 1980s covered in bryozoans, and a 400,000-year-old handaxe that reshaped our understanding of human history. Additionally, attendees can interact with a replica jaw of a notable British specimen. This event is a significant milestone for the museum, granting access to a previously restricted area for nearly eight decades.
