Natura Futura Designs 'La Casa del Tiempo' in Babahoyo as Architectural Biological Clock

Architecture firm Natura Futura has designed 'La Casa del Tiempo' (The House of Time), a mixed-use cultural building in Babahoyo, Ecuador. The project, scheduled for completion in 2026, covers 180 square meters and is positioned as an architectural response to modern urban lifestyles that have become disconnected from natural rhythms and traditional craftsmanship. Located in a city historically connected to river traditions, the structure conceptualizes time through habitable cycles that integrate domestic living with collective learning opportunities. The design emphasizes coexistence between residential spaces and community educational functions, focusing on river connections, artisanal processes, and shared experiences. Photography for the project was handled by Oscar Hernández, with illustrations by Kevin Araujo. Curatorial oversight was provided by Valentina Díaz. The architectural approach frames buildings as biological clocks that reconnect inhabitants with environmental patterns and local cultural practices.
