National Air and Space Museum opens five new galleries for 50th anniversary

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. will open five new galleries on July 1, 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of its building and the nation’s 250th anniversary. The galleries include Flight and the Arts Center, Jay I. Kislak World War II in the Air, and U.S. National Science Foundation. Two additional renovated galleries will open in the fall, completing the multi-year renovation. Chris Browne, the John and Adrienne Mars Director, stated that the museum celebrates achievements in aviation and space exploration daily, and the renovation will ensure the facility serves for the next 50 years.
