Nathan Fox Discusses The Weatherman, His Three-Volume Sci-Fi Comic Epic

publication · 2026-09-18

In a chat with Daily Heller, Nathan Fox opened up about his sci-fi comic series, The Weatherman, which spans three volumes and 19 issues, published by Image Comics. Fox, an Eisner Award nominee and the founding chair of the SVA MFA Visual Narrative program, teamed up with writer Jody LeHeup, known for his work on Deadpool and other titles. LeHeup approached Fox in late 2015, and after two years, the first issue was launched in 2018. The storyline, set in 2770, follows Nathan Bright, a Mars weatherman wrongly blamed for a major attack on Earth, and Amanda Cross, a government agent assigned to protect him while he recovers his memories. The series faced a nearly three-year delay for its last seven issues due to COVID-19, affecting sales and distribution. Fox expressed how meaningful this project has been to him and hinted at possible future collaborations with LeHeup.
