Nataly Maier Exhibition at Ravenna's Fondazione Sabe Explores Photography as Sculpture

An exhibition titled 'Immagini nello spazio' (Images in Space) by artist Nataly Maier is currently presented at Fondazione Sabe per l'arte in Ravenna. Curated by Cristina Casero, the show focuses on Maier's exploration of photography's transition from two-dimensional surfaces to three-dimensional objects, challenging traditional photographic representation. Key works include photoscultures such as 'Albero girevole,' 'Agrumi, arancio, limone,' and 'Mare in scatola,' which physically occupy gallery space. The exhibition also features diptychs pairing black-and-white photographs with monochrome painted surfaces, examining contrasts between figuration and abstraction. This presentation marks the second comprehensive display of these works, following Maier's 1992 exhibition at Galleria L'Attico in Rome, highlighting the artist's ongoing investigation into the relationship between image and reality since the late 1980s.
