Myrtle Beach Art Museum Seeks Executive Director

The Myrtle Beach Art Museum, officially known as the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, is seeking an Executive Director. Established in 1987 and opened to the public in 1997, it stands as the sole art museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the surrounding northern coastal area. Housed in a historic structure with views of the Atlantic Ocean, the museum boasts 11 galleries that encompass approximately 2,700 square feet. With over 300 exhibitions to date, recent highlights include Ashlyn Pope: A History of Moving Forward II and Jo-Ann Morgan: The Mourning After. The museum operates on an annual budget of $700,000-$800,000 and is governed by a 17-member Board of Trustees under Rosemary Long Jenrette. The incoming director will manage a team of five full-time and five part-time staff, alongside volunteers, with duties involving fundraising, strategic direction, personnel oversight, and community outreach. The salary is set between $95,000 and $125,000, plus benefits. Additionally, the museum is contemplating a move to the Arts and Innovation District in Myrtle Beach, which will feature a new 300-seat venue in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University by 2027.
