Myles Smith's debut album built from therapy notes

Myles Smith, the 28-year-old Luton-born singer-songwriter, has released his debut album 'My Mess, My Heart, My Life' after a five-year process of revisiting therapy notes. The album, delayed by a week due to burnout concerns, blends folk-infused pop with anthemic choruses and emotionally open songwriting. Smith, who won the Brits Rising Star award and made the Time 100 list, explores themes of mental health, masculinity, and family. Notable tracks include 'Sertraline', named after an antidepressant, and 'Grandma's Place', a deeply personal song about childhood refuge. The album features a guest appearance from Niall Horan on 'Drive Safe' and was produced with collaborators Peter Fenn and Gabe Simon. Smith, who cites Labrinth as an early inspiration, aims to create opportunities for other Black British artists. The album concludes on a hopeful note with songs like 'Gold'.
