MusVerre Exhibition Explores Narrative Through Glass Art

The MusVerre museum in Sars-Poteries is presenting an exhibition titled 'Enchanté, la fabrique des histoires' from April 11, 2026, to January 3, 2027. Curated by Laura Bouvard, the show transforms the museum's usual white cube aesthetic into an immersive environment with dim lighting and a starry ceiling, aiming to blur lines between reality and imagination. The exhibition originated from the discovery of a large crate containing 'Alice in Wonderland' by Czech artist Dana Zámečníková, a painted glass piece that symbolizes transition from childhood to adulthood. Bouvard, drawing on stories and legends from the museum's collection of 3,000 objects, structured the display into four thematic sections: the construction of narratives, wonderlands, uncanny strangeness, and utopian visions. Notable works include a mirror by Olivier Sévère that erases the viewer's reflection and a suspended installation by Mathilde Caylou featuring glass bubbles with soil imprints, viewed from reclining chairs. A Salvador Dalí piece is on loan from Galerie Lelong, emphasizing surrealist influences. The exhibition argues that glass serves as a narrative medium capable of conveying oral, textual, and three-dimensional stories, with references to figures like Marc Chagall and the museum's founder, Abbé Louis Mériaux.
