Musica Viva's The Fairy's Kiss Tour Opens in Brisbane

Musica Viva’s national tour, The Fairy's Kiss, launched at Brisbane Powerhouse's Visy Theatre on a warm Sunday afternoon, a venue typically known for rock music. Violinist Leila Josefowicz and pianist John Novacek, who have been performing together for over a decade, showcased pieces by Debussy, Szymanowski, Stravinsky, and Charlotte Bray. Their skill shone through in Debussy's Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor. Szymanowski's Mythes, influenced by Greek myths, posed complex challenges for them. Bray's Mriya, which means 'dream' in Ukrainian, made its Australian debut after premiering in London in September 2024, exploring themes of war and freedom. The concert wrapped up with Stravinsky's Divertimento from Le Baiser de la fée. Next stops include Melbourne on July 7, Canberra on July 9, Perth on July 11, Adelaide on July 14, and Sydney on July 20.
