Museumtijdschrift's 7 Summer Art Tips for Kids
Museumtijdschrift has compiled seven art activities for children and families during the summer holidays in the Netherlands. At the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, a Toy Story route with a free booklet lets kids aged 6–12 explore how children played through the centuries, with a drawing workshop and a 17th-century game. Museum W in Weert hosts drawing workshops on August 12 and 19 for ages 8–14, inspired by Danielle Lemaire's exhibition 'De geschiedenis is mijn gezelschap,' which reflects her Indonesian family history. The Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo offers a 'blind date with an artwork' activity: families receive a package with three creative assignments at home, leading to a reveal in the museum. The Mauritshuis in The Hague, in collaboration with Nationale-Nederlanden, has launched three running routes (5, 10, 15 km) past street art murals inspired by paintings like Vermeer's 'Diana and her Nymphs' and De Heem's 'Vase with Flowers.' Huis Zypendaal in Arnhem holds family days on July 25 and August 22 with a scavenger hunt 'Ik zie, ik zie' for all ages. Teylers Museum offers the children's podcast 'Zeker weten?' hosted by Dide Vonk, exploring scientific methods for ages 7+. Finally, the TV series 'Investigation Art Mysteries' by Martijn Blekendaal and Finbarr Wilbrink starts August 9 on NPO 3, investigating modern art mysteries like Banksy's identity and Duchamp's 'Fountain' for ages 9+.
