Museo Reina Sofía urged to incorporate New Media Art into permanent collection

A critical analysis on El Hype argues that the Museo Reina Sofía's rehang of its permanent collection, titled Colección Arte Contemporáneo 1975 – Presente, completely omits New Media Art works despite covering the period of the digital revolution. The article proposes thematic and formal strategies to integrate these practices, citing a research study by Mar Canet, Ksenia Mukhina, Antonina Korepanova, and Maximiliam Schich that found the museum has an average acquisition lag of 35 years for new artistic movements.
