Museo Ettore Fico closes in Turin, reopens in new location as Fondazione Ettore e Ines Fico

The Museo Ettore Fico in Turin closed its original location in Via Cigna in March 2026 after nearly twelve years. The space has been rented to N.G. Rappresentanze for use as a clothing showroom. Director Andrea Busto, also owner of the former factory, chose to lease the space after failing to reach an agreement with the City of Turin, which had offered to take over management if Busto donated the property. City councilor Antonio Ledda expressed disappointment, noting the missed opportunity to temporarily house works from the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GAM) during renovations. Busto has purchased a new property at Via Pessinetto 10G in the Centro Piero della Francesca, in the Borgo Vittoria district, within the Parco Dora area. The new entity, Fondazione Ettore e Ines Fico, will focus on site-specific projects with national and international artists, featuring semi-annual exhibitions. The inaugural project will be by Giovanni Termini, winner of the Premio Ettore e Ines Fico at Artissima 2025, who will create a large-scale sculpture. Subsequent exhibitions will feature Antoine Renard and an African artist. The foundation opens in the second half of September 2026 with free admission by reservation. Busto stated the closure was a personal decision, not due to financial issues, and expressed pride in having revitalized the Barriera district.
