Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Chile Opens 2027-2028 Project Call with Advisory Committee

institutional · 2026-04-06

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) at the University of Chile's Faculty of Arts has launched its sole 2026 call for projects to be included in its 2027-2028 programming. Applications opened on January 16, 2026, and will close on March 27, 2026. An advisory committee has been appointed to evaluate submissions, including visual artist and academic Nury González, curator Camila Marambio, visual artists Camilo Ortega and Bernardo Oyarzún, academic Sergio Rojas, general coordinator Paola Nava, and Quinta Normal site coordinator Carola Chacón. The call is open to adults without residency or nationality restrictions, accepting individual or collective proposals from artists, curators, cultural agents, or collectives with diverse backgrounds. Proposals must be submitted as a single PDF document containing a 500-word letter of interest, CVs of up to 1,000 words, and a complete project dossier. Selected proposals will be announced on mac.uchile.cl during the first week of June 2026, with the MAC team contacting successful applicants around that time. The museum's programming focuses on four areas: temporary exhibitions, the MAC Collection, research and criticism, and territorial engagement. Projects can utilize both MAC locations—Parque Forestal and Quinta Normal—with floor plans available online. Final space allocation and scheduling will be determined by the museum's editorial committee. Applicants should note the museum will be closed during February for university recess. Submission is exclusively through an online form, with additional guidance available in a frequently asked questions document. Questions not covered can be directed to mac@uchile.cl.
