MultiDyne Acquires MRMC from Nikon After Losses

MultiDyne Video and Fiber Optics Systems has acquired Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC), a prominent company specializing in motion-control camera technology, following Nikon's decision to divest. Nikon purchased MRMC in September 2016 for approximately $10 million (1.1 billion yen). However, MRMC faced around £26 million ($34.4 million) in operational losses, with its FY2025 revenue representing merely one-third of a percent of Nikon's overall revenue. Following Yasuhiro Ohmura's appointment as Nikon's President and CEO in February, divestiture plans were announced, culminating in the sale in March. For nearly two months, MRMC was under the ownership of British private equity firm Blandford Capital, leading to a total divestiture loss of 3.2 billion yen ($19.77 million) for Nikon. MultiDyne has formed a new entity, MultiDyne Robotics and Motion Control, which will keep the MRMC brand and continue its operations in the UK. Neil Maycock of MultiDyne will serve as Managing Director, focusing on continuity and leveraging MultiDyne's global sales channels for growth. MRMC, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026, previously partnered with Nikon on projects like the Cinebot Max. This acquisition is viewed as a favorable development for the motion-control sector.
