Multaka Museum Program Celebrates Ten Years of Cultural Dialogue in Berlin

The Multaka program, a museum mediation initiative, marks its tenth anniversary in December 2025. Founded in December 2015 by the Museum of Islamic Art and the Syrian Heritage Archive in Berlin, it began as a response to the arrival of many people from Iraq and Syria, aiming to provide access to museums and foster cross-cultural dialogue. The project involves guides from diverse backgrounds, initially offering Arabic-language tours and later expanding to Farsi in 2021. It operates across four Berlin museums: the Museum of Islamic Art, the Vorderasiatisches Museum, the Bode Museum, and the German Historical Museum. The program has evolved to include educational tools like the 'Shared Future' toolbox for schools and has grown into an international network with over 30 partners. A two-day event in December 2025, co-hosted with Multaka Oxford, will celebrate the anniversary with workshops and discussions titled 'Reflecting the Future.'
