Montoliu Hernandez Revives 1920s Valencia Apartment with Modern Design

architecture-design · 2026-04-08

In Valencia's Ensanche valenciano district, architects Montoliu Hernandez have completed the renovation of Casa Cirilo, a 101-square-meter apartment housed in a building from 1920. Finished in 2025, this project brought new life to a once-typical pass-through home that had lost its original hydraulic tiles due to past updates. Despite this, the apartment still retains its original, intricate layout with rooms that were often dark and cramped. The interior design, led by Valentina Díaz, features items from various brands like FLOS, Ideal Lux, and Vitra. Photography was done by Adrián Mora Maroto, while Juan Montoliu and his team documented the project, emphasizing the space's historic charm.
