Monterrey Institute Showcases Student Design Projects Including Interactive Lamps

Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey has presented a selection of student design projects from its Fall 2025 semester. The showcase, featured in Dezeen School Shows, highlights innovative works from the EAAD school's Highlighted Academic Projects course. Among the featured pieces is Gama, an interactive table lamp created by María Inés Morales Cortés. This lamp incorporates stainless steel, movable 3D-printed components, and an ESP32-S2 microcontroller with a touch sensor for light control. Another notable project is Punto y Coma by Alexa Paredes Arredondo, a table luminaire combining a stainless steel frame with magnetically attached 3D-printed modules. The collection also includes Sinusidad by Mixtli Fatima Godina Soto, a piece inspired by water movement and emotional dynamics during intimate dinners. Lapsos by Aaron Isaid Cea Jimenez and Mauricio Ramirez Porras presents three hourglasses made from thermoformed PETG and aluminum, exploring themes of time and manufacturing. Ppm by Arantxa López Salgado is a luminaire that visualizes air quality through light variations using a CO2 sensor. Bubbla by Daniela de Yave Olivares Campos offers a sensory light fixture with digitally controlled color modulation for small spaces. Desasosiego by Cass Rodriguez Castañeda features a light fixture blending stainless steel and 3D printing with adjustable intensity. Floralis by Alex De La Peña and Paolina Ruis Magaña serves as dual-function furniture providing seating and storage with Art Nouveau-inspired organic lines. Additional projects include Pedir un deseo by Maria José Ibarra and Danna Montserrat Miranda Ramírez, and Anomia by María Luisa Becerril Hernández and Ana Laura Matus Marcos, both exploring conceptual themes through product design. The student work was developed under the guidance of multiple tutors including Aldo Cañedo, Mario Tovar, Luis Rodriguez, Eduardo Altamirano, Montserrat Castañón, and others. According to the school's statement, these projects demonstrate rigorous design processes emphasizing innovation, critical thinking, sustainable materials, emerging technologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The showcase represents the program's focus on industry relevance and socially responsible design solutions.
