Monojit Dutta captures children's joy in spontaneous Sunday photo

Photographer Monojit Dutta took a striking image titled 'Leap of Happiness' on an OPPO Reno13 Pro phone, capturing three boys jumping in a field in Canning, West Bengal, on a Sunday morning. Dutta had arranged for balloons to be waiting at Canning station before traveling from Kolkata. After annual school exams ended, he found local children playing in a field, distributed balloons, and asked three boys to run and jump without further guidance. The resulting shot shows two boys leaping on the left and one lagging behind on the right, creating what Dutta later recognized as a balanced composition. He made minor edits to saturation and contrast on his phone. Dutta aimed to depict children playing freely under an open sky and the joy of Sundays. The photograph was taken on the banks of the River Matla.
