Molteni&C Opens Refreshed LA Flagship as an Art Collector's House

architecture-design · 2026-06-18

Italian design brand Molteni&C has debuted its refreshed Los Angeles flagship store, conceived by Creative Director Vincent Van Duysen as an "art collector's house" rather than a commercial space. The retail environment uses pale wood and travertine to evoke a light-filled California calm. Architecture and design visionaries Herzog & de Meuron, Foster + Partners, Jean Nouvel, and Christophe Delcourt contributed to the atmospherics. The first floor displays the latest outdoor collection, including Chelsea and Soleva pieces, along with Physis and Ratio kitchens, the Gliss Master System closet, and works by Gio Ponti. The second floor features the Night Collection with the Theo bed by Yabu Pushelberg, a Cinnamoon armchair by Naoto Fukasawa, and additional kitchen and living areas. Founded over 90 years ago in Lombardy, Italy, Molteni&C has stores in London, Paris, Doha, New York, Singapore, Miami, Melbourne, and Washington D.C., with further openings planned in Sydney and Lyon.
