institutional · 2026-09-13

Established in 2012, MOCA Bangkok covers an area of 215,278 square feet and houses more than a thousand pieces from Boonchai Bencharongkul's private collection. The architectural design, created by the Office of Bangkok Architects and Rachaporn Choochuey, is reminiscent of pale gray granite. Outside, a sculpture titled Happiness by Nonthivathn Chandhanaphalin takes the form of a lotus. Inside, the atrium is anchored by a statue of Silpa Bhirasri. The second floor highlights Southeast Asian artifacts dating back over 1000 BCE. Nature-inspired art is featured on the third floor, while the fourth floor pays tribute to Thawan Duchanee with The Three Kingdoms. The fifth floor showcases modern art from the U.S., Italy, Norway, Vietnam, and Malaysia, spanning two centuries. The museum's motto is Ars Longa, Vita Brevis.
