MIDW Designs Rest Pavilion for Osaka Expo 2025 on Reclaimed Land
Architecture firm MIDW has designed a temporary rest pavilion for the 2025 Osaka Expo on Yumeshima, an artificial island. The project, curated by Miwa Negoro, required removing a volume of earth equal to the building's weight due to the unstable reclaimed ground. Key collaborators include Niimori Jamison as lead architect, Jun Yanagimuro Structure Design and Toshiaki Kimura for structural work, SEE/SAW architects office for installation, and Studio arche for furniture. Photographer Benjamin Hosking documented the 248-square-meter structure.
