MFTA Opens Free Art Supply Warehouse for NYC Grantees

institutional · 2026-10-12

Starting Monday, October 19, artists who have received funding from New York City are invited to collect supplies at the Materials for the Arts (MFTA) center. This newly introduced initiative allows grant recipients to browse for materials on the second Monday of each month, from 3 PM to 6 PM, excluding federal holidays. Offerings include a variety of items, such as leather, art books, and themed masks. This program aligns with Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s recent decision to boost individual artist and nonprofit grants from $5,000 to $10,000, as stated by MFTA’s executive director, Tara Sansone.
