MFA Boston's 'Maverick Kings' Exhibition Explores Three Visionary Pharaohs
This fall, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston will showcase 'Maverick Kings: Three Visionary Pharaohs of Egypt’s Golden Age,' an exhibition focused on the reigns of three influential 18th-Dynasty pharaohs: Hatshepsut, Amenhotep III, and Akhenaten. Hatshepsut, a rare female ruler in ancient Egypt, has only recently been recognized as one of its most significant pharaohs. Amenhotep III presided over a time of great wealth and power for Egypt, while his successor, Akhenaten, initiated a religious transformation centered on the worship of a singular sun deity.
