Meta.Morf 2026 exhibition in Trondheim explores AI's dystopian potential through radical artworks

The 2026 Meta.Morf exhibition in Trondheim addresses the consequences of AI through various artworks, such as !Mediengruppe Bitnik's "Qwen Stefani Simple Sabotage Manual," which showcases provocative neon signs. Dani Ploger’s piece, "Improvised Inflatable Device (Fat Man)," challenges the concept of violence by altering its scale. Among the AI-generated artists is Yirrkala Dhunba, who reinterprets traditional dot painting in a digital context, and Kaelen Varga, whose work "Noise Poisoning" critiques media influence. Hege Tapio's "Trilogy of Transformations" (2008-2020) presents her process of converting body fat into bio-diesel. This exhibition, part of a larger biennial focused on art and technology, raises questions about the legitimacy of AI-generated art and its involvement in anti-authoritarian initiatives.
