Meta hires AI safety expert Dawn Song to lead Superintelligence Labs
Dawn Song, a UC Berkeley professor and co-founder of Virtue AI, has joined Meta's Superintelligence Labs as vice-president of AI research. She announced the move on X on Friday, stating that many Virtue AI team members are also joining. Song will help shape Meta's AI safety and security efforts. Prior to joining Meta, she spoke at the World Economic Forum in Dalian (Summer Davos), where she said AI agents should not replace humans but provide economic value. UC Berkeley's RDI centre, where Song is co-director, recently introduced Agents' Last Exam (ALE), a benchmark testing AI agents on over 1,500 real-world tasks across 55 industries.
