Meredith Nemirov's Collaborative Exhibition at Milk Moon Gallery Raises $10,000 for American Rivers

Artist Meredith Nemirov organized a sold-out exhibition at Milk Moon Gallery in Telluride, Colorado, through strategic partnerships with five collaborators. The show, which coincided with the Mountainfilm festival, featured her paintings of aspen trees on antique topographical maps, where she repainted waterways in blue to visualize rewatering drought-stricken landscapes. Nemirov first approached the national nonprofit American Rivers with a proposal offering three collaboration options; they selected a full exhibition during Mountainfilm. Additional collaborators included poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, author Ken Grossinger, and Between the Covers Bookstore. The gallery hosted two opening events—one during Mountainfilm and another on a First Thursday art walk—plus a poetry reading, generating nearly $10,000 for American Rivers. Nemirov noted the gallery staff's extensive support, including studio visits and social media promotion. She reflected that giving collaborators choice in their involvement fostered greater investment. A missed opportunity was the lack of a speech from American Rivers at the opening. Nemirov, who studied at The Art Students League and Parsons School of Design, previously ran Ridgway Gallery in Colorado with her husband.
