McNay Art Museum showcases 20 years of contemporary acquisitions in innovative exhibition

The McNay Art Museum is currently presenting "untitled: 20 Years of Collecting Contemporary Art," an exhibition featuring over 100 artworks that traces the institution's contemporary collecting efforts across two decades. Running through September 6, the show includes paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, and installations acquired during Ren� Paul Barilleaux's 20-year tenure as head of curatorial affairs. Barilleaux oversaw the acquisition of more than 200 works that significantly shaped the museum's holdings. Rather than following traditional chronological or thematic arrangements, the exhibition organizes objects according to the seven elements of art, creating unexpected pairings and fresh connections across different media and time periods. This innovative curatorial approach allows visitors to explore the collection in new ways while demonstrating the museum's sustained commitment to contemporary art.
