Matthias Pintscher Extends Kansas City Symphony Contract Through 2034

The Kansas City Symphony has decided to keep Matthias Pintscher on as their music director for another five years, which means he’ll be leading them until the end of the 2033–34 season. At 55, Pintscher has been in this position since the 2024–25 season. Besides conducting, he’s also a composer and has worked as the artistic partner with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for seven years. His impressive background includes a decade as the music director of Ensemble Intercontemporain, nine seasons as Artist-in-Association with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and roles like principal conductor of the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra and music director for the 2020 Ojai Festival.
