Matt Holubowski Announces New Album "Inside The Merry Loop" with Lead Single "Black Cloud"

Québécois singer-songwriter Matt Holubowski has unveiled "Black Cloud," the first single from his forthcoming album "Inside The Merry Loop," scheduled for release on January 22 via Next Door Records. The track explores themes of addiction, patience, forgiveness, denial, despair, and love, depicting a person who conceals their demons from nearly everyone except their partner. Holubowski explained that loving someone with an addiction resembles a delicate dance where each misstep brings catastrophe closer, and that ultimately the decision to change must come from that person. The album marks a return to his folk roots after previous projects pushed the genre's boundaries, centering on the loops—habits, obsessions, and recurring patterns—that shape both his life and creative process. Co-produced with Warren Spicer of Plants and Animals and Unessential Oils, the record features longtime collaborators including Connor Seidel and stems from years of writing and personal experience. Across its twelve tracks, doubt and questioning remain central, with uncertainty serving as a creative engine. Originally from Hudson, Quebec, Holubowski has earned gold certification for "Solitudes" and a 2023 Félix Award for Anglophone Album of the Year for "Flowers on a Molten Lawn," along with multiple GAMIQ and ADISQ nominations.
