Marzia D’Amico on Transfeminist Poetry and Neutral Language

Marzia D’Amico, a researcher, poet, and translator born in Rome in 1989, discusses her poetry collection 'Ragazz* Laser' (Zona, 2025), which won the unpublished section of the Premio Pagliarani 2024. The work employs neutral gender endings and asterisks as a structural practice of disalignment, creating a space of continuous negotiation for trans and transfeminist subjectivities. D’Amico emphasizes that her poetry is designed for oral performance but remains deeply tied to the page as an essential score. She rejects a hierarchy between oral and written forms, viewing the tension between voice and text as productive. D’Amico also curates the monthly column 'Autopoetica' for Argonline and co-runs the transfeminist newsletter 'Ghinea'.
