Martina Zanin's Solo Exhibition EVERY CARESS, A BLOW Explores Power and Vulnerability at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere

exhibition · 2026-03-27

Martina Zanin's solo exhibition EVERY CARESS, A BLOW, curated by Antonio Grulli, is on view at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome. The 1994-born artist presents a suspended world where boundaries between protection and threat, care and domination become blurred. Photographic fragments reveal hands caressing, animal paws, and glimpses of suspended bodies without showing complete scenes. Recurring symbolic animals—the falcon and the hare—embody tension, vulnerability, instinct, and dominance, appearing in partial views that invite viewers to complete the narrative. Installation works transform spaces into sites of ritual and discipline, with falconer gloves arranged in rigorous patterns evoking repeated gestures. The bronze sculpture A Predator is a Predator is a Predator… features raptor claws frozen in predatory moments, suggesting endless cycles of power dynamics. Another installation, AMBIENTI. TANE – Rabbit Hole, creates an architectural structure that serves simultaneously as shell and core, transforming the body into architecture. The exhibition explores invisible stories and relationships that both bind and limit, with power that circulates through bodies and memory rather than being possessed. Photographer Carlo Romano documented the installation views. The show presents Zanin's personal vulnerability as shared experience, silence as tension, and intimacy as architecture.
