In Japan, the first major exhibition of Martin Margiela, named 'Martin Margiela at Kudan House,' is being held in a beautiful 1927 Spanish-style mansion in the Kudanshita area of Tokyo. The exhibit covers four floors and showcases various artistic mediums like collage, paintings, drawings, sculptures, assemblages, and videos. Notable works include Vanitas II, Grey Steps I & III, Dust Cover, Torso III (Black), Black Nails Model, Bus Stop, and the Shore Shoe series. The architectural elements are covered in white plastic, giving an unfinished vibe. This exhibition will be open until April 29, and it aligns with another one at Taka Ishii Gallery Kyoto running from April 17 to May 16. Margiela has chosen to remain out of the fashion spotlight since 2008, preferring to keep his identity private.
