Marta Serrano appointed director general of Spain's ICAA film institute

Marta Serrano has been named the new director general of Spain's Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA), the country's top film authority under the Ministry of Culture. The appointment was approved by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of Culture Minister Ernest Urtasun. Serrano replaces Ignasi Camós, who died in April 2025. A career civil servant with a law degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Serrano has served since 2025 as an advisory board member in the Office of the Secretary of State for Culture. From 2020 to 2025 she was director of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Equality, where she helped launch that department. Her appointment marks a shift in leadership for Spain's film sector.
