Marsha Mason’s 228-Acre New Mexico Herb Farm Relists at $13.5 Million
Abiquiu Valley Farm, the 228-acre New Mexico estate developed by actress Marsha Mason into a certified-organic medicinal herb business, has returned to the market at $13.5 million. The property first listed two years ago at $16 million without a buyer. Cody Lujan and Chad Dugger of Hall and Hall, with Matt Desmond and Ayden Gramm of Corcoran Plaza Properties, hold the listing. Mason paid about $1 million for raw land in the early 1990s and built the spread, which she sold in 2014 for $6.2 million before relocating to the New York area to focus on theater. The farm hugs the Rio Chama River roughly 53 miles north of Santa Fe and includes a 7,300-square-foot main home by architect Theodore Waddell, a 4,700-square-foot guesthouse, a 5,400-square-foot events building with kitchen and two apartments, and equestrian facilities with a 10-stall Morton barn and outdoor dressage area. It is the state’s only Demeter-certified Biodynamic organic farm, producing herbs, alfalfa, and forage on about 70 irrigated acres. The adobe main dwelling features an interior courtyard with fountain, dual fireplaces, a library, and a primary suite with dual tiled baths. A three-bedroom guesthouse and two detached casitas sit amid gardens, with a riverfront bosque and fly-fishing pond overlooking the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
