Marke Spring 2027: A Time-Traveling Menswear Odyssey in Berlin

Mario Kleine presented his Marke Spring 2027 collection, titled 'Remnants and Relics,' at Berlin's ICC Internationales Congress Centrum, a dormant 1970s Brutalist building. The collection follows a 400-year journey inspired by Virginia Woolf's Orlando, blending historical tailoring with contemporary sportswear. Highlights include ivory high-buttoned suiting, culotte shorts based on 17th-century German rhingraven, and high-rise officer's pants with cummerbunds. Kleine pairs formal pieces with casual elements: a white tie jacket with gray track pants, a tailcoat turned into a charcoal tee over a white shirt and gray shorts. Shoes, in collaboration with Dr. Martens, are substantial black lace-ups with squared toes. The designer continues his exploration of fluid gender norms, echoing decorative historical male dress. The show venue, the ICC, has a layered past as a conference center and refugee shelter, with plans to become a cultural hub. Kleine sees the building as a fellow time traveler, brought back to life for the event.
