Mark Zuckerberg Buys 19th-Century Strancally Castle in Ireland

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, along with his spouse, Priscilla Chan, has purchased Strancally Castle, a Gothic Revival estate from the 19th century located in County Waterford, Ireland, for a price ranging between €20 million and €30 million (around $23 million to $35 million). The estate spans 440 acres and includes a 16,000-square-foot castle featuring 11 bedrooms, originally constructed around 1830 for John Keily. The castle underwent a 25-year restoration by its former owners, Michael and Giancarla Alen-Buckley, designed by architects James and George Richard Pain. A representative for Zuckerberg confirmed the acquisition, expressing excitement about spending time in Ireland, where Meta's international headquarters is situated in Dublin. This purchase follows an unsuccessful bid for Castlemartin House last year.
