Marina Previtali's 'Milano messa in opera' Debuts at Palazzo Reale with 85 Voices and 30 Canvases

A collective portrait of Milan assembled from eighty-five contributors forms the core of Milano messa in opera, a volume by Marina Previtali published by Silvana Editoriale. The book will be presented on Tuesday, 20 October 2026 at 18:00 in the Sala delle Cariatidi of Palazzo Reale, Piazza Duomo 14. Rather than a monograph or a critical essay, the project is structured as a chorus of eighty-five voices, each drawn from a distinct professional sphere rooted in the Lombardy region. Contributors span fields ranging from literature and philosophy to journalism and cultural entrepreneurship, united by a direct, lived relationship with the city. The stated aim is to capture what conventional books on Milan often fail to convey: not urban anatomy or a chronicle of its transformations, but the sentiment of the city as a collective destiny and a layering of sensibilities, professions and affiliations. Thirty canvases accompany the written testimonies, extending the volume's portrait beyond text. The presentation at Palazzo Reale places the publication within one of Milan's most prominent civic and exhibition venues, in the heart of the city near the Duomo.
