Mariam Elnozahy Appointed Chief Curator of Ulaanbaatar Biennale 2027

Mariam Elnozahy, currently Artistic Director of Konsthall C in Stockholm, has been named chief curator of the second Ulaanbaatar Biennale, scheduled for 4–30 June 2027 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The selection was made by a committee including Gantuya B, Jantsankhorol Erdenebayar, Odgerel Odonchimed, Tian Zhang, and Dr Saara Hacklin. Elnozahy's past roles include work with Townhouse Gallery in Cairo and Ma3azef Magazine, and she has curated exhibitions in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Jeddah, London, Oslo, and Uppsala, as well as workshops in Tunis and Tangiers focusing on development, natural resource exploitation, and globalization. The biennale, organized by the Arts Council of Mongolia, will be themed 'Love Songs for Mountains', a title derived from Zahra Malkani's work 'Noorani Metal Sound' (2026). Elnozahy expressed excitement about collaborating with local artists and bringing international dialogues to the event.
