Marco Scotini appointed artistic director of NABA as it expands to London

Marco Scotini has been named artistic director of NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in 2026, succeeding the late Italo Rota. The academy, founded in 1980 in Milan by Ausonio Zappa, Guido Ballo, and Tito Varisco, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2030 with a major archive curated by Scotini. NABA, the first private academy to receive ministerial recognition in Italy, now enrolls over 5,000 students across campuses in Milan, Rome, and a new London location opening in October 2026 in the Here East district of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Scotini, formerly Head of Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, will oversee all three campuses. The London campus will initially offer fashion and design courses. Scotini plans to establish a NABA Archive by 2030 and expand research through new doctoral programs in artistic practice.
