Manuel Benedito's Catalogue Raisonné Published in Two Volumes

At the Real Academia de San Fernando, the Fundación Manuel Benedito unveiled the first detailed catalogue raisonné dedicated to the works of Valencian artist Manuel Benedito. This two-volume set, overseen by Pascual Masiá, catalogs nearly a thousand oil paintings and paper works, drawing from Benedito's personal collection provided by his niece, Vicenta Benedito. Remarkably, just a week prior to the launch, the previously lost painting "Del Albaicín" (1914) was discovered in Gijón. This catalogue marks the conclusion of the celebrations for Benedito's 150th birthday, which featured a retrospective at the Museo de la Ciudad de Valencia. Benedito, born in 1875, studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Carlos and became a noted portrait artist after working across Europe before settling in Madrid.
