MAM Rio's Bloco Escola Announces Experimental Art Workshops with Sallisa Rosa and Beatriz Milhazes

The Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio) is offering a series of intensive experimental art workshops through its Bloco Escola educational program. The 'Práticas Experimentais' (Experimental Practices) course features two distinct workshops led by prominent Brazilian artists. Visual artist Sallisa Rosa will conduct a two-session workshop on April 15-16, 2026, from 2-6 PM, focusing on clay work and exploring relationships between materiality, body, memory, and concepts of past and future through collective experimentation. The workshop is designed for adult participants, with registration open from April 2-8, 2026, and selection results announced on April 10. Artist Beatriz Milhazes will lead a separate two-session workshop on April 25 and May 2, 2026, from 10 AM-12 PM, specifically for elementary school teachers and educators from both public and private systems. This workshop will examine connections between art and education through Milhazes' creative processes, with registration from April 8-13, 2026, and selection results on April 17. Both workshops are free, in-person, held at the Bloco Escola, and offer certificates for participants attending at least 75% of sessions. Selection criteria prioritize professional and educational background, gender identity, ethnic-racial factors, and socioeconomic conditions to ensure diversity and inclusion. The Bloco Escola program receives sponsorship from Petrobras through Brazil's Federal Law for Cultural Incentives.
