M HKA Exhibition 'The Situation Is Fluid' Examines Art in an Era of Uncertainty

The Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA) has launched a collection presentation titled 'The Situation Is Fluid.' This exhibition features approximately thirty significant artworks from the 1960s to the present, drawn from the museum's holdings and the Flemish Community collection. It includes pieces by artists such as Hüseyin Alptekin, Marina Abramović, Ulay, Oksana Shachko, Cady Noland, Gordon Matta-Clark, Marcel Broodthaers, Marlene Dumas, Luc Tuymans, Otobong Nkanga, Barbara Kruger, and Andrea Fraser. Organized around five thematic lenses—the political, the body, institutional critique, image-thinking, and engagement—the show explores how artistic practice responds to contemporary global disruptions, from geopolitical conflicts to shifting social values. The presentation aims to reflect on the museum's role in preserving cultural memory amid ongoing historical change.
