Lundhagem Designs New Visitor Centre for Kistefos Museum

Kistefos Museum has opened a new visitor centre designed by Norwegian architecture firm Lundhagem. Located near the southern car park beside the Randselva river, the building serves as an inviting gateway to the museum's cultural landscape. Rather than a conventional plot, the architects were asked to find the right place for the structure, which now forms part of the figure-eight pathway winding through the park. Founding partner Svein Lund explained that the design challenge was to enhance visitor flow, creating a welcoming arrival point and natural launching spot for exploration. The centre draws on Kistefos' industrial heritage, offering compelling reasons to linger before visitors journey through the remarkable grounds.
