Luis Mora Joins Clint Roenisch Gallery for Fine Art Representation

Clint Roenisch will now represent Luis Mora's fine art practice, formalizing a partnership that developed organically over several years. Mora, a photographer who gained prominence through commercial work for clients like Drake and David Cronenberg, is establishing himself in the fine art world. His exhibitions at Clint Roenisch include "Window Seat" in 2024 and "Say It With Flowers," which debuted in 2019 featuring the Paloquemao flower market in Colombia. Roenisch describes representation as a collaborative effort to present work in meaningful contexts and place it with institutions and collections. Mora's commercial practice is separately represented by his agency Common Good. He aims to maintain both commercial and fine art practices, allowing them to inform each other, as seen in a current project documenting a salt mine in Peru discovered during a commercial assignment. The gallery relationship began with Mora as a regular visitor at its Queen St. location in Toronto, where he later proposed making portraits of visitors during openings. Roenisch notes that transitioning from commercial photography to fine art is rare, citing examples like Richard Avedon and Cindy Sherman, but is impressed by Mora's drive. Mora advises young artists to approach gallery representation as a long-term partnership, building support independently first.
