Lucy Raven's 'Murderers Bar' Video Installation at The Power Plant Explores Dam Removal

Lucy Raven's video installation 'Murderers Bar' is currently on view at The Power Plant in Toronto until March 22, 2026. This 40-minute work serves as the final installment in Raven's series 'The Drumfire,' presenting an aerial tour of the Klamath River during the largest dam removal project in North American history. The installation features a dynamic quadraphonic soundtrack composed by Deantoni Parks, Raven's frequent collaborator, creating an immersive audio experience. According to Kate Whiteway, Assistant Curator at The Vega Foundation, which co-organized the presentation with The Power Plant, Raven employed aerial filming technology previously used in Stanley Kubrick's film 'The Shining.' The work combines serene landscape footage with abrupt shifts in perspective and tempo, evoking horror film techniques. The exhibition is free to the public, offering visitors a visceral encounter with environmental transformation through cinematic means.
