Lucy Guerin Inc Names Melanie Lane Artistic Director and Co-CEO, Qtopia and NORPA Also Announce Leadership Changes

Melanie Lane, a performer and choreographer, has been appointed Artistic Director and Co-CEO of Lucy Guerin Inc, the Australian dance company founded by Lucy Guerin. Lane will take up the role in January 2027, succeeding Guerin, who is handing over the reins of the company she has led for 25 years. The appointment is part of a succession plan that also includes a new Co-Artistic Director, though the name of that individual has not been disclosed. In Sydney, Qtopia, the city's home of LGBTQIA+ history and culture, has brought in new leadership. NORPA, a performing arts organisation based in regional New South Wales, is also undergoing a change of leadership. Green Music Australia, a national climate advocacy body, is likewise experiencing a transition. The announcements were reported by ArtsHub, Australia's leading independent online arts resource, as part of its regular roundup of arts sector appointments. The exact start dates for the Qtopia, NORPA and Green Music Australia appointments were not specified. The changes reflect a period of turnover in the Australian arts sector, with several organisations simultaneously appointing new leaders. Lucy Guerin Inc, known for its contemporary dance work, was established in 2002 and has toured internationally. Lane's appointment marks a significant shift for the company as it moves into a new phase under her direction.
