Lucia Buricelli's First Italian Solo Exhibition 'Everything Is Bright Here' Opens at Galleria Zema in Rome

Galleria Zema in Rome will present 'Everything Is Bright Here,' the inaugural Italian solo exhibition by photographer Lucia Buricelli, opening on April 10, 2026, at 5:30 PM. The show will remain on view through May 28, 2026. Buricelli's project features a collection of images created in New York between 2019 and 2025, exploring contemporary urban life and the perceptual conditions of the metropolis through a saturated, intensely chromatic visual language. Her work investigates the symbolic dynamics of spaces heavily influenced by consumerist logic, using color not descriptively but as a selective device that filters the visual excess of the global city. The photographs, made with direct flash and close-up framing, compress space and intensify the surface of reality, generating tension between immediacy and artifice. Part of the exhibition includes works from her series 'Don't Feed the Animals,' published in Eyeshot Magazine in 2024, which reflects on advanced capitalism's effects on urban landscapes. Buricelli, born in Venice in 1994, trained in Italy and the United States, studying photojournalism at New York's International Center of Photography. Her work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Time, Vogue, and Financial Times, and has been exhibited internationally, including at Photoville in New York in 2025. Galleria Zema, founded in Rome on March 6, 2025, by Emanuela Zamparelli, is an independent space dedicated exclusively to showcasing and promoting works by women artists, with a focus on contemporary female photography. The gallery represents Italian and international photographers with autonomous, critical perspectives on the present. Exhibition hours are Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and Wednesday through Saturday from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
