Lucas Muñoz Muñoz repurposes Madrid fishmonger stall into Guía Repsol pop-up restaurant

architecture-design · 2026-04-06

Spanish designer Lucas Muñoz Muñoz transformed a former fishmonger's stall in Madrid's Mercado de Vallehermoso into El Puesto Guía Repsol, a 22-square-meter gastronomic platform for Guía Repsol. He repurposed materials from the stall, using metal for light reflectors and tables, relocating ceiling tiles, and utilizing the old frame for the bar. Muñoz Muñoz, who began using found materials in 2006, prioritizes on-site materials and upcycling, driven by curiosity and cost constraints rather than sustainability. He compares his design process to basketball's evolution, emphasizing logical sense-making. Maria Ritter of Guía Repsol contacted him during his Infinito Delicias project. Future plans include designing a self-autonomous house. Photographer Manu Toro documented the project, reported by Anna Lazzaron.
